American imperialism is the economic and military as well as cultural influence of the United States of America on other governments. On the other hand, manifest destiny is the expansion of United States within the American continent.

Consequences of American Imperialism and Manifest Destiny

American imperialism had both positive as well as negative impact on the Latin American Societies. According to Hoglund (2016), it mainly affected the lower class as well as non-white people in the country. The exploitation of underdeveloped countries transferred the labor from poor country to rich industries. American imperialism was started to motivate the economic and politic as well as military and cultural power in the world. On the other hand, manifest destiny was started to increase the expansion of business organization in US.

Impact of American Imperialism and Manifest Destiny in US workplace

American imperialism plays an important role in the workplace. It has helped the business leaders in using their powers as well as expanding their business to many regions. In this context, it helped the business leaders to find markets to sell the goods. According to Welch (2016), this also helped in the growth of the economy through new innovation as it allowed US to gain more profits. As a result, there was development of goods as well as services in all the countries. Therefore, it increased the economic growth. It also influences the power of country through diplomacy as well as military force. It helped the whole world by providing defensive support during any conflict by providing them training as well as other resources. Along with that, it also helped in promoting nationalism. On the other hand, Manifest Destiny was started  expand the United States across the North American Continent in order to become larger as well as wealthier. As a result, this influenced the individual US- based company work. As opined by Chua (2015), it also helped in promoting democracy as well as prosperity in the whole world. Low stringent labor laws helped in production of goods at a cheaper rate. It also creates challenges in terms of exploitation on the employees as this leads towards capitalization.

Impact of American imperialism on demography in workplace

The US imperialism changed the demographic in the workplace by creating various challenges in the healthcare areas. The cost of healthcare centers increased in the country. In the US imperialism it was decided that the cost of health care centers will increase with the increase of population in the country. Therefore, this increased the cost of health care all over the world. As opined by Frank (2018), it has also increased ethnic diversity in the United States this helped in bringing new ideas as well as philosophies in order to deal with other cultures in the United States. This also resulted in reducing unemployment and also helped in opening new job opportunities for the people. In this context, the retirement age of people was increased so that they could work even longer. This also helped in producing cheaper goods because of less stringent labor laws. This helped them in preventing the disruption of trade networks in the United States.

Impact of US immigration and expansion

US policy of imperialism on Afghanistan and Iraq has also influenced their people. This can be cited as an example of imperialism on particular group of people. US government allows employment-visa to this group of employees (Employment-Based Immigrant Visas, 2019). The immigration and naturalization act 1952 of United States has a collection of many other laws concerning the right of the immigrant employees (Immigration and Nationality Act, 2019). Government also introduce the  INA Act 8 USC, 1324 to ensure their rights as discrimination has been taken place regarding citizenship status as well as appearance and pronunciation (Immigrants’ Employment Rights Under Federal Anti-Discrimination Laws, 2019). People from poor countries affected from the imperialism policy of America since 19th century have been considered the most affected group in this context.

Introduction

The technology regarding mass production has transformed the workplaces of America. Moreover, it is widening the power gap between management and labor. The union with the workers can unify the interests of the workers. This essay has focused on the importance of union in the modern workplace of US. In relation to societal stereotypes of 18th century, the importance of these on leadership and management practices has been discussed in this essay.   

Discussing the regulations of labor union

According to the provision of Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, the state of New Jersey has set the minimum wage $8.85 (Office of Financial Management, 2019). In relation to the activities of the government, the lawsuits are able to support the interest of the workers. Overtime exemptions and compensable time at the workplace of this state of New Jersey is able to make the relationship strong between the employer and employees. The regulations of the labor laws of this state require the employers to provide 30 minutes break after five hours of work. Along with these, the labor laws of this state can support leave related benefits to the workers.

The labor laws of New Jersey do not require the employers which can provide the workers with severance pay. According to the provisions of the regulations related to the labor laws, if an employer can choose to provide severance benefits it can comply along with the terms of employment contract or policy. An employer may pay a worker by cash or by direct deposit with the consent of the employee. The employer has to put advance notice to the union or to the employee regarding wage reduction.

As per the provisions of National Labor Relations Act 1935, the employers can encourage collective bargaining (National Labor Relations Board, 2019). Moreover, the management practices by the employers in relation to the welfare of the employees can not only influence the businesses but also economy of US.

Equality can be considered as a concept which is fundamental in relation to sustainable development. Equity gives facilities as per the requirements to everyone to be successful at the workplace. Through implementing the equity, an organization can support fairness at the workplace. On the other hand, equality can be considered as the way of treating all the employees. Equality has the aim to promote fairness to the employees of an organization. Equality can be considered as the state in which all the employees are at same state.

The way of treating the employees along with same facilities can help the employers to encourage the employees to be associated with the organization. For an example, it can be mentioned that the management team can focus on the process of maintaining equality to reduce negative aspects of gender, disability and race discrimination. An employer can support the interest of the employees by supporting sexual or age orientation. This system of equality has the aim to motivate the people to increase the quality of performance by providing equal opportunities to them. Moreover, it can be mentioned that equal opportunities or equal payment structure for the employees can support community within the workplace.

On the other hand, for an example, equity at the workplace can be considered as transparency to both cause and effect. At the workplace, while an individual can receive fair treatment like others, the employee is able to access the opportunities. In order to present the example of equity at the workplace, it has been analyzed that it is able to set up advantageous environment for both employers and employees.  

Based on the advantages of both equality and equity, the employers can motivate the employees. Through maintaining equity and equality at the workplace, an organization can enhance productivity depending on the quality of the performance of the employees. In order to achieve rewards, an employee can drive his or her ability based on equal facilities with others. It is important for the employers to implement the strategies of both equity and equality. It is important to plan regarding the activities of the initial stage to implementing facilities for the employees.
